Verification, monitoring of deposit

An escrow arrangement is complete only after successful verification of the materials in the secure depository. We call that verification Technical Verification Service (TVS). We perform verification at four levels (TVS Levels).

Technical Verification Service in brief

The escrow arrangement aims to provide continuity to the end user in situations where the supplier can no longer provide support. In such an emergency, we hand over the deposit under strict conditions so that the end user can move on. Obviously, those materials must be of excellent quality and up-to-date. Comprehensive verification gives the supplier and end users that assurance. We then check that the materials are complete, working properly and that they meet the set goals to ensure continuity.

When do verifications take place?

You can request or further extend verification at any time. We recommend a comprehensive verification (level 3 or 4) at least once a year, so that you can always be sure that the materials actually meet the (changing) continuity goals.

4 levels of verification

We perform verifications at the desired level. Escrow Alliance has four levels (levels) of verifications.

We perform the basic TVS Level 1 verification by default on every filing. With this we check whether the materials taken into deposit are usable. Think of that as hull insurance. This can also be done in conjunction with an audit: TVS Level 2.

Want more security, similar to all-risk insurance? Then go for comprehensive TVS Level 3 or TVS Level 4 verification.

TVS Level 1 - Integrity verification

This is basic verification at the depot, including checking the integrity of the materials. It provides assurance that the material deposited is, among other things, virus-free, accessible and of the expected type.

TVS Level 2 - Material audit

This is basic verification where we also perform an audit on the materials, such as spot checks (sampling) and verification of definitions in the escrow agreement. During the materials audit, we determine whether specific materials such as libraries or files are present.

TVS Level 3 - Complete verification.

With a complete verification, we demonstrate that the material deposited meets the stated continuity purposes of the escrow arrangement. It is similar to a fire drill. The consultant simulates the same steps we take when issuing the deposit.

Each escrow arrangement has its own specifications. You can find these specifications in the escrow arrangements for source code, software, SaaS and technology.

We can perform the TVS level 3 at a software vendor location or at Escrow Alliance’s software lab.

TVS Level 4 - Customised verification.

We completely customize the verification for you if you:

  • Want to test components of the software
  • Just want to check how the software compares in a complex environment
  • Want specific checks that apply to your situation

Other verifications

In addition to the 4 TVS Levels, we offer the following verifications, among others.

Build-verification

This is a periodic check by which we determine whether the source code was used exclusively during the compilation of the software product.

Code review

We make portions of deposited materials available to bidders in a controlled manner for bids or in mergers or acquisitions.

Cloud review

We validate whether cloud applications are available and functioning properly after a deposit is issued.

Risk analysis

Research in which we identify critical applications before establishing an escrow arrangement.

Data-audit

Periodic checking of certain files in databases that are part of the deposited material.

Benefits verification

Thanks to our verifications, software vendors and end users have assurance that the deposited material is complete and functional.

Supplier benefits:

  • You have proof that the materials were properly documented and delivered.
  • The escrow arrangement occurs more quickly.
  • It improves your relationship with the end user.

End-user benefits:

  • You can be sure that the deposited materials are complete and comprehensive.
  • You have a backup: the deposited materials collectively form an application identical to the one you use.
  • You have all the building blocks and documentation to perform maintenance, management and changes (or have them performed).
